Our Journey: Blossoming Together Through the Years

Ainsdale In Bloom entered the Royal Horticultural Society Northwest In Bloom for the first time in its own right under a town category in 2014.

The Roots of Ainsdale in Bloom

Ainsdale in Bloom was established in 2014 by a group of dedicated residents, spearheaded by chairman Brenda Porter, with the goal of improving the village’s natural beauty and community spirit. We formed the Ainsdale in Bloom Steering Group to organize and lead these efforts.

Early Projects

Our initial focus was on participating in the RHS North West in Bloom Annual Event. The first major project was creating the Ainsdale Village Community Garden, which in 2018 contributed to Southport’s successful entry in Britain in Bloom. Enhancing the Village Highway with sustainable and visually appealing planters, through the efforts of the Village Bloomers supported by Natural Alternatives, further enhanced our village.

In the 2014 event, the Ainsdale Village Church Community Garden entered as a Neighbourhood of Southport and was awarded Outstanding. Additionally, the private garden of Mr. and Mrs. Roy, part of our 2014 entry, received a Special Commendation Certificate. These early successes highlighted the potential of our community efforts and inspired us to continue our mission of making Ainsdale a more beautiful and welcoming place.

Enhancing Ainsdale Through The Years

In 2021 Ainsdale shared Best Town and in 2023 Best Town in their own right. Previously in 2014 awarded Best Newcomer in the town category.

To date they have received 3 Silver Gilt and 7 Gold Awards.

Community Impact

Since 2014, we have expanded our projects to include various parts of Ainsdale. Our efforts have led to the installation and maintenance of numerous planters and gardens, significantly improving the village’s appearance. These projects have not only beautified public spaces but have also contributed to the community’s overall well-being.

Recognition

Our work has been consistently recognized at the RHS North West in Bloom Annual Event, earning us several awards. Notably, three of our projects—Friends of Ainsdale Community Garden, Friends of Ainsdale Village Park, and Ainsdale in Bloom Village Bloomers—have received Outstanding ratings, reflecting the high standards and impact of our initiatives. In 2021, Ainsdale shared the Best Town in the North West Award and previously earned the Best Newcomer in the Town category. We have also been honored with a Silver Gilt Award.

Ongoing Commitment

We remain committed to enhancing Ainsdale’s environment. Our goal is to continue making Ainsdale a pleasant place to live, work, and visit through ongoing horticultural projects and community involvement.
